Magazines
Lou's work has appeared hundreds of times in over a dozen magazines. Most have been computer magazines, but he's not strictly limited to that field—several of his photographs were published in National Lampoon.
During the 1980s and early 1990s, he wrote over 200 articles, columns, programs and reviews for national and international computer magazines. They were often the most widely-read features in the publications in which they appeared.
Lou's work was valuable to his publishers, and he was believed to be the highest-paid writer in the emerging field of popular computer magazines.
His Magic column, a compilation of user-submitted tips and tricks, was the most popular feature in RUN magazine, the nation's second fastest-growing magazine in 1985. Magic attracted submissions from every state and Canadian province, and from over 60 foreign countries. RUN devoted four year-end special issues to Magic and Lou's other works. Magic ended its run when a competing magazine lured Lou away by doubling his monthly compensation.
Others of Lou's works appeared in COMPUTE!, Commander, Commodore Magazine, Micro, Power Play, Transactor, Kilobaud Microcomputing, and other computer magazines of the day.
